Court Liaison Program
A Court Liaison fosters communication, encourages a sense of community, and coordinates activities within a court or group of courts. The following is a list of recommended duties and Court Liaisons may be creative in their approach.
As a Court Liaison, you may:
- Welcome new members to a court with a GHI Information Bag and Brochure. (Member Services will contact you, when someone new moves into your court.)
- Encourage and organize court activities, e.g., picnics, common area clean up, a court yard sale or block party.
- Distribute flyers and other materials such as yard waste bags. (Your delivery duties do not include delivering The Communicator. These deliveries are handled separately.)
- Bring general and mutual court concerns to the attention of GHI staff or other entities, e.g., lack of lighting, cracked asphalt in the parking area.
- Bring to court members' attention items of interest and importance that they may have missed in The Communicator or Greenbelt News Review.
- Make sure court members have up-to-date contact information for GHI, City of Greenbelt trash and recycling pickup, and emergency services.
- Help to identify outstanding homes or yards for the GHI's Home and Garden Tour.
Please remember that the Court Liaison does not act as an intermediary for an individual member who has personal concerns or complaints. That member is responsible for communicating directly with the appropriate GHI staff member or other entity about individual concerns. The Court Liaison may, however, make sure a member knows the correct procedure and person in the GHI offices to contact.
If you are interested in becoming a court liaison, please fill out the attached application and/or contact Neron Adams-Escalera in Member Services at 301-474-4161 x1138.
